| Toddler Program |
| Our Walker/Toddler I group age starts at around 18 months and they will stay in this group until they move onto our Preschool (around 2 1/2 -3 yrs. old). We offer experiences in practical life, sensorial, music and movement, verbal skills, gross and fine motor, and lots of creative art, among others. All children in this age group should be down to 1 nap per day. Once they are ready for more complex academics and have a lot of their basic self care skills mastered, such as feeding themselves with a spoon or fingers, language skills and are finished with for more challenging accomplishments such as potty training and higher academics with finer control and more complex processes. They then are masters of these skills and this environment and are ready for Preschool. Typically around age 3 yrs. |
For Toddlers, one of our biggest focuses at this age
is self care skills, and the understanding of
processes. The world is a very exciting place to
explore, and we offer a safe way for them to try their
new skills. As a toddler goes from being a self
centered being (only focused on themselves) ,you
then see them develop into the child who wants to
play near others, then to the child that plays with
others. We try to guide this journey of socialization
and give them role modeling of words and verbal
phrases that they will use to interact with others.
Instead of taking a toy, they will ask. Instead of
pointing or grunting they will learn "drink, please." A
toddler goes from being a frustrated infant to a
well-mannered three year old. Here at Clear Lake
Montessori we want your child to feel as comfortable
with us as they do with their family. After all we spend
almost as much time with them as you do!
